Professional Educators and Child Care Staff (PECCS)

PECCS is one of 6 bargaining units within District 25, representing approximately 140 employees of the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board. PECCS members work for the Continuing Education Department of the Board, and the EarlyON program facilitator members work for the EarlyON Program of the OCDSB. These programs deliver diverse programs to our students, children and families within our community. Such programs include: Literacy and Basic Skills (LBS), Adaptive Learning (ALP), Workplace Programs, English as a Second Language (ESL), Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) and the Child Care associated with some of those programs at the different sites around the city. Our EarlyON Child and Program Facilitators work at 8 different public-school sites around the city of Ottawa. Working side-by-side, the PECCS Bargaining Unit members might be small in numbers, but they certainly have a wide reach to many of our community members and their families.

Our programs are funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, Ontario Works, Success by Six, the Ontario Ministry of Education and the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.

Certification as the PECCS Bargaining Unit was organized under the Labour Relations Act in 2004.
